Northwest Compass, Inc. needs you! We offer FREE tax preparation to those in the community, but in order to do so, we need volunteers! Position: Income Tax Preparer Purpose/Objective: Provide FREE tax return preparation to persons eligible for service (i.e., those earning less than $50,000 per year, persons with disabilities, non-English speaking and the elderly.) Location: Northwest Compass, 1300 W. Northwest Highway, Mount Prospect, IL 60056. Responsibilities: Provide high-quality assistance to all taxpayers, and prepare their returns based on the information provided by the taxpayer and answer any tax related questions. Interview taxpayers to determine if all income, deductions, and allowable credits are claimed, and must maintain confidentiality of all taxpayer information. Must be passionate about our Mission, able to be agreeable to our policy and liability terms. Qualifications: Must have successfully passed the certification test, have basic computer skills for inputting tax return information, take pride in performing tasks completely and accurately, and should be dependable and flexible.
