Gunnison Sage-Grouse!! this morning just outside Gunnison Colorado. Heres a photo of the scene at sunrise, 40-50 grouse (close to 1% of the world population) were in the farther area of bare ground, and also a sketch that I did comparing the shapes of males and females as they walked across the lek. Unfortunately a coyote scared them all off before I was able to do more sketches, but the experience was great regardless. Thanks Pat, Owen, and Erin for guiding and good company.
