Gut bacteria have an intricate relationship with our immune - TopicsExpress

Gut bacteria have an intricate relationship with our immune system. Researcher found a particular type of bacterium that, when present in the intestines, trains the immune system to produce Th17 cells, which in turn release molecules that cause inflammation and bone damage in arthritis. They are starting to speculate that perhaps this bacteria could be attacked or crowded out with probiotic pills full of good bacteria. Theyre hoping that patients may someday be able to relieve their joint pain by focusing on their guts. They still havent caught on to the concept that eating cultured foods changes the microbes in your gut millions of times better than pills, but they are getting there. I just have to be patient and keep spreading the good news that, cultured foods are key to a healthy gut and body.
