Guys, I recently got advice from a friend of mine saying to start with vocabulary words like student, teacher, bank etc. Although, starting with basic vocabulary was a HUGE MISTAKE! Please, if you are reading this, when learning Japanese ALWAYS start off with basic greetings and words, but be sure to learn Kanji in ORDER. Start from the number 1, and work your way up. Learn the stroke order, Kun-yomi, On-Yomi etc. If you do this, not only will it help you in the long run, but it will make life much easier for you. Trust me on this one. When I tried learning upper level vocabulary first, I found myself struggling, but that was because I didnt have a foundation. I recommend downloading a Japanese to English(or whatever your native tongue is) dictionary. Some online dictionaries include: jisho, saiga-jp/kanji_dictionary.html, and tangorin/. My favorite Japanese dictionary app is JED. Be sure to have learned Hiragana and Katakana first, then move on to Kanji. What I do, is I start with a Kanji, I look it up in the dictionary, find the basic reading, Kun-yomi, On- yomi (readings), strokes and stroke order, and something to help you remember it. Look for example sentences with adjectives, verbs and so on, to get used to sentence structure. At minimum, you should learn at least 10-15 new Kanji a day. I hope that this help someone. Thank you!
