Guys, this isnt going to make much sense to many on my regular friends list, because Im continuing a conversation I just got embroiled in as part of the Scottish History group. According to Norman MacDougall (James III, John Donald Publishers, 2009), Patrick Hepburn, 1st Earl of Bothwell started out as Sir Patrick Hepburn of Dunsyre, 2nd Lord Hailes, whose father Patrick Hepburn was created 1st Lord Hailes by James II in the parliament of June, 1482. Hes still being styled Sir Patrick Hepburn of Dunsyre in the crisis of 1482 - his father the 1st Lord Hailes must die between 1482 and 1488 as Patrick Hepburn (Jnr) is styled 2nd Lord Hailes by the time of the coup in 1488. Thanks, guys! Any excuse to improve my knowledge of all things Hepburn-related...
