Gwynedd Council has sent a message of support to Alex Salmond to give its backing to the campaign for Scottish independence. It follows a majority vote by councillors who agreed this week to back a motion to support the ‘yes’ campaign for the forthcoming election in Scotland. Leader of Gwynedd Council, Dyfed Edwards, said: “These are fascinating times and we are watching what is going on in Scotland with great interest. I am pleased that this council is lifting its head and looking beyond the county and beyond Wales. Whichever way the referendum goes, it will affect the people living in all the countries of the UK. “As a council, we have written to Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland, to wish him and his country men and women well in the referendum as we believe that an independent Scotland can lead the way on these islands in terms of social justice and fairness.” dailywales.net/2014/08/08/gwynedd-council-says-yes-to-scottish-independence/
