[HADITH PROBLEMS]: So here is a small example of why LAYMEN should not pick up hadiths straight from the books ... Hadith 1: Urwa Al Zubayr narrates from the Prophet, Whoever is tried by having daughters and perseveres with them, they will veil him from the hellfire [on the Day of Judgement] Now anyone who reads that as it is gets the impression that daughters are seen as a NEGATIVE thing in the Islamic train of thought. But lets see another hadith ... Hadith 2: Aisha narrates from the Prophet, A woman entered asking me for food and had two daughters with her. But all I had with me was a date, so I gave it to her, and she split it between her daughters without having any of it for herself. When the Prophet came I told him of this. and he said, Whoever is tried by having daughters and perseveres with them, they will veil him from the hellfire [on the Day of Judgement] SUDDENLY things now make more sense - the first hadith is only a fragment of the second one. My advice to my fellow brothers ad sisters, within and outside of Islamic faith: when studying Islam, study with patience, criticality and holistcity and not with weak and brushy scholarship.
