HANKS GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY REVIEW: 1. Best Marvel film out right now. 2. The characters chemistry was really good. You actually cared about them and what happens to them. Good writing. 3. The villain sucked, as usual. Hopefully Marvel will get it together as we move into the bigger and nastier baddies coming as a result of this film. So if i had a big gripe about it, it was the villain. 4. The visuals: the best Ive seen Marvel do. This was a huge space epic and it didnt skimp on the effects. 5. The soundtrack is DOPE. I will be getting that soon! Im sure it will do big numbers as this film undoubtedly will after positive word of mouth. 6. This is what happens when a film studio takes a chance. This is not only an homage to the 80s in terms of music and pop culture references, this is an homage to the way films USED to be made. This film reminded me of why I loved the films of the 80s. How studios took a chance, no matter how crazy the idea and did it with love. It didnt always work, but you left it all on the screen. James Gunn, bless you bro. 7. People will disagree, but this IS this generations Star Wars in every way. The comparisons jump out at you unapologetically. The quintessential heroes journey, down to the reveal that Quill is more than the mere human he thought he was. Again, you may disagree and frankly, I dont give a shit. 8. This film is a game-changer for Marvel. If you read comics, you KNOW what I mean. This is going to take what we THOUGHT we knew and turn it upside down. Im excited about all the little easter eggs that were dropped in this film. More than any Marvel film to date. 9. This is not a big, dumb popcorn film. Its a space epic that only Disney had the balls to do. Judging by the level of AWSOME they put into this film, Im confident about the new Star Wars films. 10. If you thought the end credit sequence was stupid and unnecessary, you DO NOT KNOW COMICS and I will not debate with you further. That character that you call dumb is tightly woven into the Marvel universe. He plays a role in the war that is to come, and while they may have butchered him forever with that stupid movie in the 80s, Marvel has the chance to right that wrong in the current universe. Im excited about where the MCU is going. So yeah, FOX may be bringing the X-Men back to their prominence, but Disney is going GALACTIC on your ass. **** out of five stars (lost a star for that villain)
