HAPPY 2015 EVERYONE. I have a very important announcement to make. It will be a great year in rescue. I will be a better rescue with so many new resourses. Will i be better because i used spiderman body wash so now i can leap to buildings to save a dog cat, even a stray chicken?, nope its because my neighbor, Cynthia Harlow, aka cyndi, made a call to the state Dept of Agriculture and filed a complaint that i was soliciting,or have some one solicit funds on my behalf ,there is no rescue because im not non profit and dont have a 501c, and quote, im a hoarder. All because a friend and past adopterAshley Phillips Lasseter was kind enough to set up a go fund me account to help with the rescue and mooses high vet bills from being attacked by a pitbull that was intentionally placed on my property while i was gone. Once dept of ag sent me a letter i immediately contacted them, explained what i have been doing for 30 plus years here in leon county for hundreds of animals, was willing to show the reciepts for thousands of dollars in medical care for dogs here, thousands of dollars in food, toys,grooming, supplies and now even a pink hat (that story later). They explained that because i dont have a board, make over 25,000 and other requirements i am not obligated to do anything but to fill out a simple 3 page form. They were very helpful, understanding of the situation at hand and appreciative of all rescuers. My paperwork will be processed free of charge. Dubois Rescue is now registered with the state, an e.i.n. And I can legally solicit funds, this is not tax deductible, i can hold fundraisers, i can work on now nessesary record keeping skills with free help. When you go to certain sites i will now be listed as a real rescue which hopefully will bring me more supporters and adopters. Did i mention that cynthia is listed as being on the board of 2 different rescues? With this being said, she should know the laws and know that neither non profit or 501 are required to be a real rescue. As far as allegations of hoarder, roflmao! If anyone knows of a hoarder that takes in hundreds of dogs, gets them vetted and makes every attempt to find them a permanent loving home, spends thousands a year to do this, please give me their info so i can help them get the info and get registered as a real rescue, as cynthia harlow so graciously supplied me. Thats what pay it forward is all about. Will this piece of paper, when received, make me a real rescue? No. Will it make me a better rescue? No. And what makes this eben funnier, now that i will be filing taxes, may even be eligible for the end of the year for earned income credit refund. I will be checking into this further. What will make me a better rescue is you. By sharing, encouraging adoptions, spay and nueter, donate if able,(not tax dedictable at this time) and continued support. That my friends, will make a better new year! Not that free piece of paper. Im going to be a real rescue in 2015. Whooohooo. All thanks to cynthia harlow. I will turn anything she throw at me this year to better DuBois Rescue.
