HAPPY SUNDAY EVENING: I’d rather be a failure at something I love than a success at something I hate. (George Burns) George Burns is one of the most beloved comedians of all time. We all remember him for playing God in the trilogy of Oh God movies back in the late 70s and early 80s. Morgan Freeman played the role of God in the remake of this same series in both movies titled, Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. Life is indeed precious, and sadly, it takes many people an entire lifetime to understand that life is much too short to spend all your time being unhappy and miserable. We all know that we must do things that we dont like. Those who have families are acutely aware of this fact and realize that they may spend 20-30 years working at a job that they do not like in order to place food on the table and pay the bills. How then do we look at the quote made by the late George Burns and reconcile it with the stark realities of life? The key words in George Burns’ quote are: love, success, and failure. We all have a purpose in life and the only way to know this purpose is to listen to the voice deep within. This is the same voice that told you not to hang out with certain people when you were growing up, the same voice that will tell you to feel sorry for a certain person because they have a deep inner sorrow that you recognize. If we listen to the voice deep within, we cannot be a failure. We will be a success, and we will love what we are doing. Knowing our true purpose in life is what defines us not only to others and ourselves, but most importantly, to our Creator. The voice within comes from the Holy Spirit that drives our every step. If you want to stay tuned into your inner voice, pray unceasingly and not just at bedtime. Is it really possible to pray unceasingly? Yes it is! In everything you do, every thought, every action, direct it toward God and keep a visual thought of Christ on the Cross in your mind even as you are working, talking, eating etc. Talk to God, for he truly has very large ears! :) Dont forget, this friday the Movie NOAH will be out in theaters worldwide! It is going to have a profound impact upon the world. Remember my friends, a smile is one of the few things you can give away yet still keep, so, if you see people without a smile, give them yours! Be blessed and filled with Christs Love, pastor gary richards
