HATS OFF! I want to take a minute to give a special SHOUT OUT - TopicsExpress

HATS OFF! I want to take a minute to give a special SHOUT OUT to the 2014 Hamilton Varsity Football players and coaches this year. It was evident early on, that it was going to be a good football season. One might ask…”this year was a good season??” and I would wholeheartedly reply…”YES! A good season!” You see…the scoreboard does not define what a good season is – sure, everyone likes to win a game BUT the amount of wins does not epitomize a successful season. Lisa Knapp said it best…”WINNING SEASONS DON’T ALWAYS SHOW UP ON SCOREBOARDS” It was undeniable at the Glenn camp this past August that the team had a natural meshing. This came from a combination of great kids led by awesome coaches. Everyone went home knowing that they were “brothers” and that they had each others’ backs no matter what came their way. It did not matter what their life consisted of, their background, or how they thought of themselves; when they left that camp, it was a unanimous feeling and understanding that they belonged, they were “one” and they were committed to each other. As a parent, I have witnessed positive and uplifting role models through the coaches that have taught our boys the important qualities of being a teammate, a friend, and a man. The loyalty that shone through each one of the players was inspirational and this was expected and reinforced by their coaches. I was amazed at the players’ dedication and their determination to never ever quit no matter what obstacles they faced because they knew that they had a bond that held them together and they would finish the work at hand…together. Does everyone like to win a game? Absolutely! Is it the only thing that defines a winner? Definitely not! Coach Miller, Coach Braschler, Coach LeFere, Coach Heasley, and Coach Randall…I personally cannot thank you enough not only for your time commitment to the program but also for believing in our boys. For being truly vested in their lives and for your genuine care for them and their wellbeing. For instructing, modeling and respecting them as valuable young men. They, in turn, have the utmost respect for you. That is PRICELESS! That is what I like to call the “meat and potatoes” – the “substance” – the stuff that stinking MATTERS! So thank you, thank you, thank you! Each single player and every coach on the 2014 Hamilton Varsity Football team deserves a standing ovation for they have carried out what most of us can only hope we’d have the strength, dedication, and integrity to do. I am so thankful that my son could have such a positive experience to finish off his high school football years. I believe that he, along with his teammates, is walking away from this season a better person. So…2014 HAMILTON HAWKEYE VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM and COACHES…HATS OFF TO YOU! WE ARE BEYOND PROUD OF EVERY ONE OF YOU! You are…H-TOWN STRONG! GOOOOOOO HAWKS! ~~Melva Dykstra~~
