HAVE WE EVER ASKED OURSELVES? Every Dick and Harry in the south seizes this opportunity....the child-marriage bill in the Senate to fire salvoes of criticism and hurl barrages of aspersions on Senator Yerima! What a people......what a clique of hypocrites! Have we really asked ourselves: (1) How well have our representatives in the south represent us here in the legislature? (2) How many times have we taken to the street in such fervour to protest against the non-committal attitudes of our representatives to our problems in the south? (3). Does it mean we dont have fundamental issues in the south that must be heard too in the National Assembly.......and why have issues that centre on the South not been raised to cause such heat? (4). Back to my Senatorial District in Ondo State, why does the nation abandon the second largest bitumen deposit in the world while millions of our youths wither away in the bleary wilderness of unemployment? (5) The child-marriage bill is a brain-child of the district hearing and interaction with his people in the north; when last did our (s)enators and (h)onourables come down to the south let alone having public hearing & interaction with US? (6) Apropos all these and many more malfeances and dereliction on the part of our representatives at levels of government; how many times have we taken to the street? Or, what has happened to our hands that carried placards against Yerima.....the mouth that churned out derogatory words against Yerima........and the spirit with which we all register our grievances and frustration?
