HAZAMA CORPORATION BRIEF INTRODUCTION HAZAMA CORPORATION HAZAMA CORPORATION started its construction activities in Vietnam in 1961. After successfully working up to 1975, construction operation was suspended due to Vietnam’s Revolution. After the Revolution, the activities restarted from 1992. Since then, it has been carrying out numerous projects in Vietnam. The list of Completed Projects and On-going Projects can be found in the Home Page Bar. The Resident Representative of HAZAMA CORPORATION was established in Ho Chi Minh City following Permit No. 444/TM/GP dated 2 January 1993 issued by the Ministry of Trade and in Hanoi following Permit No. 1148/TM/GP dated 16 September 1994. Representative Offices are allowed to carry out only the following scope of activities: • To function as a Liaison Office and to conduct market research. • To accelerate the execution of contracts, agreements on construction concluded between HAZAMA CORPORATION and the Vietnamese economic and technical institutions • To promote the elaboration of projects on construction cooperation of HAZAMA CORPORATION in Vietnam. Since the scope of works for the Resident Representative Offices is limited, HAZAMA Representative Offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have been implementing the function of a Liaison Office and market research concentrating on policies, laws, regulations, statutes in running business, social activities in general and on rules and regulations on construction in particular. The Representative Offices closely cooperates with the site bodies/staff of HAZAMA Head Office from Tokyo for the execution of the projects in Vietnam in helping them for organizing project sites, to make the new investors know and explain the Vietnamese laws, information on development of Export Processing Zones and Industrial Zones and the various infrastructure projects. The Representative Offices are manned by Japanese General Manager and Administration manager, expatriate engineers and Vietnamese engineers. For every project, one Project Manager with his support staff will be assigned to the project office by the Head Office who will be responsible for the execution of the project. The relationship between Head Office and Site Management is that the main office of the project will be established in Tokyo where the International Division is also located. The role of the Head Office is to give an appropriate reply and advice towards any problems on technical matters. These activities shall be taken either by requests from the Project Manager or by the consideration of the Head Office based on the information from the Project Office or through the General Manager of Representative Offices. Although the Head Office shall be finally responsible for the contract, any authorization which will be essential for the operation of the Site shall be given to the Project Manager for the smooth and appropriate management of the project.
