HBCUs with the greatest net reduction in revenue from state allocations when comparing year 2002 to 2012 Forty-seven HBCUs are supported by public funds with allocations from state governments. Among them, 14 are receiving less revenue now than they received more than 10 years ago. These are the HBCUs that experienced the greatest loss. 1. South Carolina State University (SC); -$12,979,170 (-89%) 2. Southern University and A & M College (LA); -$15,171,103 (-43%) 3. Southern University at New Orleans (LA); -$4,009,163 (-41%) 4. Grambling State University (LA); -$6,089,011 (-33%) 5. Bluefield State College (WV); -$1,477,278 (-22%) 6. Albany State University (GA); -$3,446,828 (-20%) 7. Savannah State University (GA); -$3,108,823 (-19%) 8. West Virginia State University (WV); -$1,868,963 (-15%) 9. Fort Valley State University (GA); -$2,554,231 (-13%) 10. Tennessee State University (TN); -$2,254,956 (-6%) On April 20th, I posted an update entitled “Where are educated Black men?” Louisiana and South Carolina had the least educated population of Black males over age 24.
