HCLA Child Nutrition Update Parents, if you are able to, please pack an afternoon snack for your child. I have told the teachers to stop work to have afternoons snack at 4 pm daily. Then, our scholars clean up and pack up to go home. Please note: We have some snacks available daily, but please help us save resources that can be used for instructional supplies for our scholars. I am working on additional funding to help with our nutrition program. Our Free and Reduced lunch applications will go home with our scholars by next week. In the meantime, if you qualified for Free Lunch last year, we will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch until your current application is processed. Each day, I personally check to ensure that all of our scholars are eating. Please be advised that Bertie County Schools is charging us $6.50 per day, per child for breakfast and lunch. We are only charging parents $5 per day. I am currently exploring two other vendors to provide child nutrition services moving forward. I will keep you posted. ~ Kashi B Hall, Executive Director
