Fully utilizing available FTAs can reduce landed costs of goods, thereby improving profitability and product competitiveness in the destination markets. The key to securing these benefits is to understand the qualifying conditions to claim origin status and ensuring that the documentary and operational requirements can be satisfied. With the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) coming into effect after 2015, the luncheon will highlight how businesses could maximize the benefits committed under the AEC to improve product competitiveness in the ASEAN countries, while managing risks of potential issues and challenges by Customs Authorities on declared product classification information from the exporting and importing countries. Our guest speaker: Mr. Bob Fletcher Leader – Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific Customs & Global Trade - Deloitte & Touche, Singapore Bob is the Leader of Deloitte’s Southeast Asia and Asian Pacific Customs & Global Trade team and is based in Singapore. Before moving into customs consultancy, he spent 13 years working for UK Customs, including 4 years specialising in Customs valuation. With over 20 years in customs and trade consultancy, Bob is one of Deloitte’s foremost experts in this specialist area. He has extensive experience in advising many of the world’s major US, European and Asian multinational clients. Working closely with leaders of the Global Indirect Tax Group, International Tax and Transfer Pricing teams, he has assisted many companies to structure their contractual and supply chain arrangements to be customs duty/VAT efficient. Bob has extensive experience in Customs valuation; tariff planning; duty relief optimisation; Free Trade Agreement (FTA) planning and import/export controls across all sectors. He is a frequent speaker on Customs valuation, Free Trade Agreement planning; Security Export controls, and Customs compliance.
