HE FORECAST IS SUNNY FOR BUNDABERG REGION TOURISM Bundaberg Regional Council is forecasting positive results for tourism promotion of the region after the announcement that Channel 7’s Sunrise program would broadcast its weather segment live from the Hinkler Hall of Aviation in the Botanic Gardens this Sunday (June 9). Council’s Economic Development portfolio spokesperson Greg Barnes said he was thrilled the popular morning show had considered Bundaberg’s nomination after the Hinkler Hall of Aviation suffered severe electrical damage in January’s devastating floods, only reopening this week. “The message we need to get out to all Australians is that, yes, the region took a blow at the start of the year with extreme natural disaster events but Bundaberg is back open for business and we need everyone’s support to assist our tourism industry in its recovery,” Cr Barnes said. “I hope we will have a big crowd at the botanic gardens to greet the camera crews and show the nation just how far we have come on the road to recovery.” Well-known presenter and TV personality, Tom Williams who is an avid aviator, will be hosting the live weather crosses from the Botanic Gardens between 7am and 9.30am. While some filming will occur inside the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, it will not be open to the public until normal trading operations commence at 9am.
