One of the 5 Civilized Tribes in American History, the Chickasaw had a knack for trading with the eventual European settlers and were progressive amongst womens social standings in the tribe. Land property and hereditary leadership were often controlled by the women in the tribe. The Chickasaw were both hunters and farmers, as well as fisherman who created their own tools and crafts amongst the Woodlands which they occupied before migrating to Oklahoma where they currently reside until this day. The Chickasaw religion was heavily influenced by the clouds, sun, and the belief of a man living in the clear sky. Thunder and lightning also held significant symbolism to the Chickasaw tribe members, representing war amongst the Holy People in the clouds and reaffirming their faith and desire to aid them if called upon. Since you belong within the Chickasaw Tribe, you must be a loyal person who would serve those that care for you. However, youre also clever and skilled within economics and trade. To be a Chickasaw, you need to know how to communicate in a diplomatic manner and appeal to everyone around you in order to be successful.
