HE GRACIOUSLY REFERRED TO ME AS A MISSIONARY TO THE STATES - TopicsExpress

HE GRACIOUSLY REFERRED TO ME AS A MISSIONARY TO THE STATES LEGISLATURE Yesterday was a blessed day of ministry. My first stop was to speak for the morning worship service of Big Rock Creek Baptist Church, in Bakersville, North Carolina. Rev. Lander Heafner currently serves that church as interim pastor. He formerly served as senior pastor of the First Baptist Church, Crossnore, but has now retired. At the end of the service, Rev. Heafner kindly referred to me as the missionary for conservative evangelicals in the states legislature. I didnt get to tell it, but what Heafner said reminded me of the missionary who spoke at a dinner in his honor before he embarked for a distant land. I want to thank you for your kindnesses, he told everyone, and I want all of you to know that when I am out there, surrounded by ugly, grinning savages, I shall think of you people. LOL!!!!!! Well, my line of work can be somewhat like that in the public arena, and I am always very thankful for the kind expressions of support that I get from great saints like Rev. Heafner and the brethren at Big Rock Creek. In the evening I traveled to Minneapolis. No, not the one in Minnesota, but the one in Western North Carolina, where I gave a seminar on Students Rights in the Public Schools to a joint group of churches and their youth, hosted by Minneapolis Baptist Church. I genuinely had a good time doing that seminar - everyone was so marvelously responsive. And many told me afterward that they felt our time together definitely helped students better understand their constitutional rights for sharing their faith in the public schools, as well as emboldening them to do so. Pastor Brent Snyder and his wife Autumn were very gracious hosts. They are such a good lookin couple. And then, a special word of thanks to Jeremy and Tracy Parker, Directors of the Candlestick Retreat Center, as well as youth pastors for the Minneapolis Church. I kept both of them up unto the long hours of the night to provide them with profound counsel - Jeremy should do more fishing and hunting. LOL!!!! In my estimation, these two couples, the Snyders and the Parkers, are what ministry is really all about. Every day they give of themselves sacrificially to share the Gospel of Christ and to make the world better for everyone in their sphere of influence. No Joel Osteen nonsense from these people. There is a sense in which they have chosen to be poor for Christs sake that others might be rich in Him. Lastly, a word of thanks to Garland Honeycutt, to whom all of us owe a great debt of appreciation for making these moments of ministry possible. -Dr. Mark Creech
