HE the president will today inaugurate a railway line that will redefine how business will be transacted in east and central Africa and will assert our position in the community of nations. This railway will have direct impact on transport costs, fuel consumption, longevity of roads and prices of heavy trucks. The little noises from human rights groups though welcome, but should be treated with the contempt it deserves, those noises must and should not be allowed to derail this project. I also think that, those noises are sponsored distractions from those whose businesses will take a direct hit from the rail business, like truck owners. it is important to note that truck business was the very reason why the original KR was deliberately muscled out by the political elite, in history no country has ever fully developed without a well coordinated transport systems, the great roman empire was defined by a large extent, by its good road network, Europe and America went into an overdrive in developing transport networks after WW2, massive but cheap movement of goods and people is vital for growth. Needless to say even to support a country during times of strive, you need good transport networks, after all nothing happens until something moves have a transported day.
