HEADLINES…THAT MAKE NO SENSE TODAY (OR ANY DAY) WHEN FOOD IS SCARCE AT HOME PRESIDENT REQUESTS $500 MILLION TO AID SYRIA FIGHT REBELS Read on their own, these two headlines and the accompanying articles seem like just a days news stories. But if you put them together it pops out to you…or at least me. Why is food scarce at home in America, the richest county in the world. Why should children have to depend on school yard handouts and not have food at home. Maybe because $500 million of your tax dollars that could feed chidden are being sent to stop fighting between factions in Syria. Factions that have been fighting since before America was a country and will be fighting far into the future until one of them wipes the other out. We want peace in the Middle East…that would be nice for Americans. Oil will continue to flow and the standard of living for those Americans fortunate enough to still have jobs and food would be prolonged. However, the operative word in that sentence was prolonged…not ensured…not guaranteed. No matter how much money we spend prolonging our lifestyle, there will be a time when the bullet must be bit, and we spend our money changing from an oil dependent society to one free of foreign control . Oh it will hurt for a while ( a long while) and many who are not suffering now will have to suffer….But in the end, we can make a standard of living that can be sustained and not just prolonged. I would love to see the headline: AMERICANS HAVE AWAKENED AND TAKEN THEIR DESTINY IN THEIR OWN HANDS.
