HEALING HURT HEARTS SERIES PART 17 SPECIAL SUNDAY SERMON: 17-08-2014 Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda; Pretoria, South Africa. THE PAINFUL AND YET SILENT UNTOLD STORY OF YOUNG JOSEPH! Gen 30:22-24 And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb. 23. And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:. 24. . And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son. Gen 35:19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. Rachel after a long battle with barrenness eventually gave birth to Joseph and at that point she knew that it will not be possible to have as many children as her sister Leah had. She was however confident that one more son will be added to the one she had and true to that she had Benjamin whom she did not have the privilege of seeing him grow up. So Joseph and his brother Benjamin grew up without their biological mother. This had a very negative effect on Joseph’s life as you will see later in our message. Let us see Joseph in the light of having no mother and if you consider the battles that where in the family of Jacob between Leah and Rachel, we can just guess as to how the situation was for the two sons who had lost their mother. MOTHER NATURE’S UNPREDICTABLE COURSE! Gen 35:16-19 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour. 17. And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also. 18. And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died ) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died ) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. 19. And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem. As we look at the life of Joseph, we see how unpredictable Mother Nature’s course is. This is one of the most painful realities, losing a mother so early in life. Motherly love and care is irreplaceable no matter what you do or how you do it. Sometimes we lose parents or one of the parents so early in life and we fail to understand. I lost my father when I was just six and my mother made one of the worst decisions that could ever be made by a widow, to chose to get married to a man who has a wife and children already. When I asked her why she had done that, she said that she had thought that a man with children has experience with the care of children and this proved to be Satan’s idea because the way we suffered in that home no tongue can tell. Sometimes in the night I used to cry as I could not understand why my dad had died so early but that is the course mother nature chooses sometimes. It is one of the most painful thing in the heart of a growing child not to have the opportunity ever morning to say good morning dad and mom. This makes me wonder how careless many ladies can be. See these young girls who are so mad at fornication and end up being pregnant. Because most of them are not ready to be mothers, they take their children to be under the care their grandmothers and unfortunately for some they have an opportunity to continue in their darling sin of fornication and produce more kids. Take it or leave a grandmother is not the mother for your child. Yes we have some tender grandmothers who are better than the biological mothers but this will never surpass the bond that is to exist between mother and child. This is the reason why I advice many young people that never dream of becoming a mother before becoming a wife nor becoming a father before becoming a husband. You must refuse this satanic offer no matter how much it will offer you as it hurts the future generation and changes the course of history for the world. Remember Abraham decided to go by the advice of Sarah his wife to sleep with Hagar and an Ishmael was born. This has split the world into two major opposing religions Christianity and Islam because Ishmael was chased with the mother who now took care of him as a single parent. Those of you living in South Africa you know how much the damage the child support grant from government has done to the society. So many unplanned children are born in an effort for mothers to get more income which is not actually spent on children but on the mothers themselves since they are the majority shareholders. Children are not taken care of and what you see is that they also follow the course that their mothers have chosen to have babies for the sake of child support grant. The issue I am trying to raise here is that do not be a dead living mother. JACOB UNDYING AND OPEN LOVE FOR RACHEL AND HER CHILDREN’S FAMILY! Gen 33:2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost. Gen 37:3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. Gen 42:36 And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. 37. And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved. Can you see Jacob’s undying and open love for Rachel and Joseph. On this day when he went to meet his brother Esau, he had hoped for the worst as he was not sure of what reaction to expect from him for the stolen blessing. If Esau had decided to kill Jacob’s family this day, he would have started with the handmaidens and their children, then followed by Leah and her children and possibly by the way they were arranged Rachel and Joseph could have had an opportunity to escape. This was not welcome at all in the family and was a source of contention. WHY THE DREAM’S OF JOSEPH WAS A PAIN IN THE FAMILY! Gen 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. Gen 37:10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? Remember that Joseph’s biological mother Rachel had died and the dream he had was about Jacob and Leah. With all the struggles in that family between Leah and Rachel how do you think Leah will take to be under the control of her young’s sister’s son? This brewed hatred and it was just a matter of time before this boy would be sorted out. On the other hand we see that God sometimes does not care how others will take what he does through those he has chosen. Many church leaders fail God here as they are more worried with the people in the dream than the one who was given the dream and in so doing we affect the plan of God for the church. Yes you may rebuke and banish the dreamer but you are powerless over the dream that God has given him. May the Lord help the church in Jesus Name? LET US PRAY! Father in the Name of Jesus I bring as many people as have been robbed of their parental love and care through the death of their parents or one of the parents. You have promised to be the father of the fatherless and I pray that your exercise that right in each and every affected life in Jesus name. May your love and mercy flow in the life of all those who have been hated because of the dreams you have given them. Touch every person that has hatred in the heart towards other people and let them realize that hatred is a recipe for a terrible famine in their lives. Touch every heart this day and exchange every hate with love in Jesus Name. Heal our hearts dear Lord. Thank you Lord for the answer. In Jesus Name I pray!
