HEAVEN WILL YOU BE THERE? Heb.12:22-25 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, - (23) to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are REGISTERED (emphasis added) in heaven, to God, the Judge of all . . . (24) – to Jesus, the Mediator of the new covenant, . . . (25) – See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. . . There is no way of mistaking the Bible teaching on Heaven and Hell. What is rather terrifying about it all is that it comes down to a matter of PERSONAL CHOICE! This is not only terrifying but totally tragic. Even after hearing the gospel news about the sacrifice of Christ Jesus, our Lord; after hearing about how Jesus suffered IN OUR PLACE; how He took the punishment of our sin on His own body so that you and I don’t have to suffer hell – God’s justice demands that the soul that sinned should die. Jesus took that death for us when He died on the Cross of Calvary; yet and still, there are those who will turn a deaf ear to all that. To them, it is utter rubbish. My spirit weeps for such. Jesus, when He was asked by the rich young man what he might do to enter into eternal life (heaven); Jesus at first gave him the Law and the young man said he’d been keeping the Law from his youth. Jesus looked at him and said : “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven . . .” This man went away sad and disappointed. – Mk.10:17-22. Who knows what he expected to hear? He treasured his worldly wealth more than he treasured his soul. No wonder Jesus asked in another place – “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” – Mk.8:36&37. When Nicodemus came to Jesus at night, most likely on a similar mission as the young man, Jesus pre-empted him and gave him the answer he needed to hear – “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. – Jn.3:3. As simple as that. To some who believe in their own intellect, they just do not see why the need to be born again. To them it is religious nonsense! Jesus has shown in the two instances above that neither wealth nor intellect will get you into heaven. In Acts.16:30-31, the jailer who kept Paul and Silas in prison asked: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” and they answered: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” The account goes on to show how he and his household believed and were baptized. Friend, the question is: When the Lamb’s Book of Life is opened in heaven, will you be there? It is not by how educated you are or how rich you are – JUST BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND YOU WILL BE SAVED. Heavenly Father, open our eyes and our hearts to see and accept the simplicity of Your plan for our salvation. Help us to come to You trusting and believing like a little child, for that is all You ask of us. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen.
