HELLO AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I know that I havent connected with all of you in awhile It has been very hectic in my family! In July, my parents became grandparents for the first time when my first human niece was born. She is absolutely gorgeous and I cant wait to meet her, because she lives in a different city. A few months ago, I broke down the door to my crate during a particularly nasty thunderstorm that happened in the middle of the night. Mommy and Daddy wanted to see how I did without the security of a door before they gave me a new crate. At first, it was kind of weird. But very soon I got used to it and it made me bolder and moved me forward! I used to refuse to eat unless my door was safely locked; then I learned that I could eat perfectly fine without a locked door! That seemed to unlock another switch in my doggie brain, and all of a sudden, I started becoming interested in toys! My parents had been trying to interest me in toys since I came home in January 2011, but I had no interest. Now I like to play with and chew bones and other chew toys, especially stuffed Kongs. Daddy went to the store and got us both marrow bones from the butcher. I ate mine immediately, holding it in my paws and eating the marrow inside the bone. Molly, on the other hand, didnt have a clue what to do with it! She carried it around, chewed on the bone, and got frustrated because she couldnt figure out how to get to the marrow! What a dufus. So she just left her one in the middle of the floor. I came out and took it and finished it off! Sometimes we share the same toys, switching off chewing on them! Another benefit of not having a door is that while Molly is closed in her crate at night, I get to sleep on the Blue Couch! Since I have been doing that, I have been tearing up papers and blankets and stuffed toys and leaving piles of torn paper and stuffing. I tried to look innocent and blame it on Molly, but Mommy and Daddy didnt buy it. Mommy calmly told me not to do it any more, like thats going to work! I believe that as long as I dont eat any shoes or clothes Im probably good to go. Living without a door has also made me spend a lot more time out of my crate.. I come out when Mollys out now, which I wouldnt do before without lots of encouragement from Mom and Dad: now I walk right past her and she doesnt care, either. She gives me lots of kisses and we lie together on the Blue Couch even when Mommy and Daddy arent around! Molly sleeps on Daddys lap in his recliner and I sleep on Mommys lap on the Blue Couch. Or sometimes we sleep together on one of their laps on the Blue Couch. I no longer press myself against the back of my crate when Im resting in it. I sleep with my head at the entrance and my tail at the back, looking out. Its still my safe place and I have to rum back and inspect it after anyone messes with it, even when Mommy or Daddy washes my blankets or gives me fresh water, but once Ive assured myself that its still there and OK, I can leave it again. I have been living a nice, quiet, peaceful and happy life with my mommy and daddy and my sister Molly. Life is GOOD!
