HERE IS THE TEXT OF AN EMAIL I SENT TO ROSEMARY BARTON AT CBC REGARDING HER COMMENTS ON POWER N POLITICS. I COPIED THE CBC OMBUDSMAN AND AS MANY CBC STAFF I COULD BUT HAVE NOT RECIEVED ANY RESPONSE FROM ANYONE...... Ms. Barton, On Friday March 21, 2014, on CBCs Power n Politics, you stated on air that you were going to talk about the Supreme Court of Canada decision striking down the controversial Stephen Harper appointment of Marc Nadon to the Supreme court of Canada because the Conservatives told you to talk about it. Since when does a responsible journalist or national network or broadcaster take reporting and marching orders from a government? As the national publicly funded broadcaster of the nation, it would stand to reason that the CBC would exercise the highest standards of responsible journalism and base their stories, presentation of events as they happen based on fact, objectivity and truth and not on ideology. I have chatted with many on social media who share the opinion with me that you have shown a partisan perspective and it is the unspoken sentiment of the silent majority across this country that the since the CBC has been under scrutiny and attack by the Harper Conservatives, that you and Evan Solomon have expressed partisan perspectives toward the Harper Conservatives. Most attribute this partisan treatment as an attempt by CBC news staff to appease the Conservatives and minimize the budget cuts. I am sharing what has been expressed to me many times over and I can honestly say that for the most part the people who have shared their opinions with me are correct in their assumptions and your statement cannot be deflected as mere sarcasm. Please exercise responsible journalism and state facts and truth, not partisan views based on political pressure.
