HGST Penang Job Description Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer/ Sr Manufacturing Engineer – ME (NPI) Employee Category: Exempt Department: Manufacturing Engineering Reports To [position]: Manufacturing Engineering Manager SUMMARY OF DUTIES Responsible for NPI activities execution and ensure product readiness to transfer to next product life cycle - Responsible for development of PCBA / NPI product manufacturing methodology, as well as critical or new rework requirement - Responsible in performing DFM and provide design feedback related to PCBA and final product assembly - Responsible in engineering change analysis and provide technical feedback - Responsible for PCBA / final product assembly accessories equipment, chemistry, packaging and indirect material selection, evaluation, qualification, recommendation as well as introduction to the operation for continuous improvement - Responsible for PCBA and Product Safety handling which include WIP transportation & storage design requirement - Responsible for defining Product Process Flow and relevant product assembly instruction development which include generic processes and product specific as well as tooling and related equipment set up - Provide PCBA and final Product assembly Technology Leadership to support continuous operation requirement - Define and develop label and packaging requirement for PCBA and final product. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Degree in Engineering of Chemistry / Physics / Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical /Electrical Engineering or equivalents number of years of hands on experience and technological know how. - Possesses excellent knowledge in SMT PCBA Assembly Process technology know how. - Minimum 4 years experience in an electronics/PCBA manufacturing environment and must be technically sound and confident as well as well-versed with latest Assembly technology development - Excellent Technical Leadership Skill - Familiar with 6-sigma / Lean concepts and methodologies REQUIRED SKILLS and/or EXPERIENCE - Experienced in all SMT related Equipment processes such as Solder Paste Printing / Pick & Place / Reflow / AOI / API / Router/ Cleaning equipment and final product packaging - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate well internally and externally. LANGUAGE SKILLS - Good command in English and Bahasa Malaysia SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If Applicable) - Yes, must have the supervisory experience in leading or coordinate the technical team BEHAVIORAL QUALITIES - Sense of right responses by being aware of urgency, demands - Make available – as priorities may change rapidly and provide right actions with right timings - A good degree of recognizing what need to be done BEFORE being asked what to do - Able to adapt to change of plans at last minute - Able to remain calm and clear-headed when dealing with complex situations, including managing diverse demands - Good analytical skills required when dealing with diverse complex situations, with accurate assessment of anticipated consequences - Ability to multitask effectively in time critical environment WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
