HH CONCLUDES FIRST ROUND OF CONCLUDES FIRST ROUND OF COPPERBELT VISIT Today I am continuing with my first campaign tour Zambia United and concluding my first visit to the Copperbelt. After Kitwe yesterday, this morning we have been in Chingola and will now move on to Solwezi. Over the next week I will continue travelling to every one of the 10 provinces to launch my campaign. During my time on the Copperbelt I have met with workers, students, miners, journalist and activists. I met workers at Black Mountain mine who have been lied to with promises of ownership and better working conditions, I met students at Copperbelt University who have been let down by government and are struggling to fund their studies, and at markets in Kitwe and Chingola I have met with people who are struggling to get by with fuel and food prices high, but jobs few and far between. Despite the tough conditions all these people face on a daily basis I was overwhelmed by their warm welcome and generosity of spirit. It reminded me that as a nation we have been blessed with natural resources but our best and most valuable asset remains the Zambian people. If we can get serious about improving access to quality education and training, and supporting local businesses to grow and create jobs then we can move Zambia forward much more quickly. Standing in the markets today and with the students at CBU yesterday the energy and potential was clear for everyone to see. To achieve this we must unite together. As well as launching my campaign this tour is all about calling for an inclusive government in 2015 and equal representation from all Zambians, regardless of gender, province or tribe.
