HIGH END SALONS VS. OTHER SALONS What is the difference? Cost? Maybe you have asked yourself the same question. We all try to ensure our money is spent well. After my own investigating to see what price points were on women’s haircut in other salons, what I found was not lower prices, but how they priced services to make the consumer think they were getting lower prices. I discovered they were charging a cheaper haircut price and adding costs for a shampoo, blow-dry, and style. Right now as Next Generation Stylists at Headquarters Salon, I charge 30$ for a women’s haircut that INCLUDES an in depth consultation, head/neck/shoulder massage, shampoo/condition with a hot towel, hand/arm massage, haircut, blow-dry, and style. So clearly it is not price that makes the difference. What does make the difference is actually getting the bang for your buck!! You will immediately be able to tell whether you are in any high end salon or not. Professional staff conduct includes confidence in their abilities and how they dress and style themselves. Why trust a person to do your hair that does not take the time to do their own? Higher end salons like Headquarters will also offer complimentary coffee, tea, or water. They will take your coat and hang it up for you, promptly returning it at the end of your service. You will be checked in and out by a friendly receptionist. Top salons will offer the best in color, hair care products, and the most current hair trends and techniques. Beauty school is what gives stylists a strong foundation to build on, but it cannot stop there if a stylist expects to be successful in this profession. Lets be honest, top stylists will want to surround themselves with other top stylists. They will want to be in an environment where they can learn, grow, and gain support from others around them. They know the true importance of passion, continued education, and teamwork. You can find a great stylist in a salon that is updated and trendy just like the work they produce. Hair experiences worth remembering are with a resourceful, knowledgable stylist who does not back down from a challenge. Challenges are great stepping stones for newer stylists like myself that are backed up by their mentors and other seasoned stylists in their salon. The difference between high end salons and low end salons is not price at all. The difference is professionalism, experience, continued education, and the stylists themselves.
