HIGH WATER ADVISORY UPDATE Lethbridge, Alberta – The latest information from Alberta Environment indicates that the anticipated main flood surge is moving slower than projected and will not reach Lethbridge until Friday afternoon. The peak is still anticipated to be similar to levels experienced in 2005 where there was extensive River Valley flooding. We have confirmed that the Oldman River has reached the bank in some areas of Fort McLeod and the City and County are monitoring flows at the Monarch Bridge, west of Lethbridge. Evacuated Paradise Canyon residents are being allowed to return back home for the night but will remain on standby for evacuation if required. We thank them for their patience and cooperation. Bridgeview Campground remains closed. The City will remain in a Local State of Emergency until the surge peaks and begins to subside. We continue to urge residents to stay out of the River Valley as the volumes of water will be very significant. Berms at key City infrastructure like the Water and Wastewater Treatment plant were completed this afternoon and those facilities are protected.
