HIGHWAY & BRIDGE/COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEES: Paid bills at Highway and Bridge today on various projects throughout the county. Received updates from dept heads in Community Service. I also wanted to address something I have seen floating around concerning money spent towards the Christmas lights at the court house and how much was spent. I have seen anywhere of 20,000 to 13,000 to 14,000 dollars mentioned as the cost. I spoke with Brian Gadbois, who oversees the installation of the lights at the court house, which does look great during the holidays and the cost to the county was for 2013: 11/26/13 $1066 10/24/13 $1150 for a total cost to the county $2216. With many issues, sadly, misinformation is out there by some who may not know the real figure(s)/facts, or those who have a political agenda. When in doubt, just ask and either myself or any board member will be able to find the answer. The key is just ask. Transparency in government is essential!! Just like the Public Sales Tax Referendum, there are those who will vote yes and those who will vote no, it all depends on their personal views and feelings. I hope that all who vote on the referendum, do so with the facts. Vote as you see fit, but please have the facts and know the details of what it entails and how it effects not just you, but the entire county. Thank you again.
