HIMABAY ACCIDENT REPORT By Philip Ogola Kenya Red Cross Homabay Branch today at noon responded to a Mass Casualty Incident along Mbita - Homabay road at Adongo about 10kms from Mbita Town. The midday accident involved a canter lorry that was ferrying 45 mourners to Mbita. The Lorry lost control after gear failure, rolled several times downhill, Sadly claiming one fatality on the spot and scores injured. Kenya Red Cross Disaster response teams from Homabay Branch were the first to arrive at the accident scene. The first responders stabilized , treated and evacuated 16 patients to Homabay District Hospital of which four suffered multiple injuries were in critical condition. The rest sustained minor soft tissue injuries were treated at scene and discharged Our Condolences to family and friends of the bereaved, we wish the injured in Hospital a speedy recovery.
