HINDSIGHT Just fifty years ago blacks were not allowed to attend Duke University, or NC State, or UNC. Think about that. Then came integration and we forced our way into their schools. All of the major talent left our communities and flocked to larger colleges. Then came the Michael Jordons, Magic Johnsons, and Allen Iversons. Along with our talent came championships and a huge increase in funding and perks for those white schools...while our HBCUs suffered. IMAGINE TODAY, if our top athletic youth took their brilliance and talent to an HBCU; all of them. Imagine the championships and funding, as well as the clout our schools would garnish in less than a decade. It would start attracting the top professors and scholars in the country, and we would be able to afford them. In turn it would raise the ratings of our schools. Now picture this. Think of the affect it would have on our community if we filled the NBA, NFL, and major league baseball with graduates from HBCUs. All that money and power in the hands of some young black folks who have gained some allegiance to their own. Just think about that... It was on my mind... Muhjahid Qahhar
