HMMMPH!!! One of my pet peeves is SATIRICAL NEWS. Organizations like The Daily Currant and The Onion post things that seem real and are taken at face value by many people that then get easily and vastly disseminated through social media like FB. They think it is funny and is just an exercise in Free Speech, even though they literally cause intrigue and may even ruin reputations of people. In the worst case, they may even cause widespread panic and anxiety, which may lead to unrest and violence. Property damage and loss of lives could result from these. These types of organizations should not be tolerated and laws should be passed to curtail and abolish them. Further, the people who are responsible for creating these organizations should be punished with jail sentences and severe fines. If not, then at least anyone who posts these kinds of things should be required to give a disclaimer about the satirical nature of the posting at the VERY OUTSET so that people who do not appreciate these things and who would normally not give them any attention whatsoever do not waste their time. Let those who find these kinds of things amusing free to read or view them as they please; at the same time, others not so inclined can avoid them if their nature is disclosed, should that be their choice.
