HOLD Accenture accountable! A class action lawsuit is needed in behalf of the suffering poor. The GOP has found yet another disaster to impose on the people of North Carolina – Implement a poorly designed and untested software/hardware program and beta test it on North Carolinas Food Stamp Program. The result is worse than disastrous and DHHS won’t even hold the software company, Accenture, accountable for this failure of services. WHAT? The cost of the “160 additional employees to provide local technical support” should be paid for by “Accenture” the creators of the new “NC FAST” software system. One of my family members is a single parent with two children in Wake County. She works as much as her company can afford. Roughly 32 hours a week spread over a five day period. The small amount of food stamps she receives is often the only thing that keeps her and her children from going hungry during the month. Now this valuable and greatly needed resource has been cut off without cause. Her food stamps where not re-issued as normal and she has been told there will be a three week waiting period for her to be “re-qualified” and to be “added back into the system.” She was directed to several private food bank/pantry programs which are needed now more than ever. Just one of the problems with this stop gap solution has cause is how does a working woman get time off to do such a thing? Who is paying for the additional gas and time lost from her work week? That is even if her boss allows her to leave during the day which he can’t? Why isn’t Accenture paying for the food these people must obtain through private organizations and for the disruption of services to our States needy? DHHS needs to stop all payments to Accenture software company. Require Accenture to hire the additional staff to get this straightened out, and pay every food stamp client affected damages the lack of services they have caused. This failure to test the software effectively prior to implementation is Accenture fault not the needy. DHHS should not be redirecting their employees to solve this problem. This is Accenture problem and it is their responsibility to get it corrected HOLD Accenture accountable! A class action lawsuit is needed in behalf of the suffering poor.
