HOLI ONE FESTIVAL, LONDON 2014 After a fantabulous weekend of fabulous weather JemmOne’s Miranda Loy headed down to Holi One festival, London. Although the traditional Hindu festival celebrates the beginning of spring, thousands of Londoners took to the streets of Wembley Park on Saturday 2nd August 2014, in the heart of summer for nothing but pure colours, great music and an exhilarating atmosphere. We were so glad that the weatherman actually got it wrong this time! Instead we were blessed with a perfect combination of fluffy clouds and sunlight that shone through, it was great balance to accompany such a bright and vibrant festival. Dressed from head to toe in white as recommended by the organisers and armed with colour ammo, party-goers soon found themselves splattered with rainbow hues as the air filled with clouds of brightly coloured smoke at a countdown, every hour from 2pm. Throughout the day it was a great atmosphere, you could eat, drink, dance and of course throw as much paint at one another. Added water to the powder created a whole new dimension of craziness, after all who doesn’t want to indulge in fun & games, whilst throwing paints at their mates- by far the best bit. It was a fantastic day and it remained joyful and polite as traditional Hindu dancers took to the stage in between local talented DJs and, of course, the official colour countdowns. We even witness a brave man bend down on one knee and I believe it may have been the festival’s first wedding proposal, on the main stage in front of everyone-Just in case your wondering, don’t worry she said ‘YES’. Whilst the crowd cheered in a rainbow of colour we can definitely say that this had to be the most exhilarating festivals weve ever been to, bring on next year- we cant wait!
