*HOLIDAY TRAVEL FOR ONE WOMAN ENDS IN A HIGH SPEED CHASE AND TRIP TO HOSPITAL ON I-95* Around 8:42 this morning Jasper county law enforcement in SC attempted to stop a red Lincoln Navigator on I-95 SB near MM-105 for excessive speed. The woman driving the vehicle failed to stop, and began to drive recklessly putting other holiday travelers in danger. The vehicle continued into Georgia at which time the Ga State Patrol was called in to assist. Shortly after entering into Ga, the Pooler Police Dept. joined in the chase, and the Navigator continued some 90 miles south on I-95 where GSP eventually conducted a Pit maneuver after all other attempts to stop the vehicle had failed. The vehicle then rolled several times before coming to a rest in the wood line at MM-39. Bryan, Liberty and Glynn counties also assisted in the chase. The woman, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was conscious and alert at the crash site, but was Air-Lifted to Jacksonville, Fl with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. The woman told authorities that she was traveling to Fl and didnt have time to pull over. A secondary accident also occurred at the crash site (unrelated to the chase), where a red pickup ran into the back of a gold suv, but only minor injuries were reported. A GSP officer stated that this situation could have been much worse because of the heavy traffic due to holiday travelers! He also commended all law enforcement officials involved in the chase for their professionalism and concern for safety of the other drivers on the interstate and the overall way that they handled the situation.
