Nonetheless, I am asking you to show up to your polling station on Tuesday, November 4, and vote for fiscal conservatism and overall change by typing in the name Melanie Holland for District 2, Charles County. In addition, please ask your family, friends, and colleagues to type in Melanie Holland. As Melanie mentioned previously this year, she thanked the thousands of citizens who voted for her in the primary election, showing a true desire for change. Having consistently passed national security background checks over numerous years, Melanie retired with over 30 years of Federal service as a manager overseeing a $100M+ budget with a staff of over 20. As a Federal retiree, she does not seek the high office of Charles County Commissioner for its pension or its part-time salary. Melanie entered the race because of her frustration with high property taxes -- the highest outside of Baltimore City. As someone who commuted to Washington, DC, for 20+ years, she understands the need for improved transportation. On the campaign trail, Melanie has stated that she will fully fund public safety and education; place a firm hold on property taxes; a stronger commercial tax base; improve transportation; smart growth policies; and very important TRANSPARENCY IN GOVERNMENT. With a BA in Political Science and an MPA in Public Administration, she has been the guiding force in my founding the Veterans Democratic Club of Charles County and Vicinity (shes the clubs Secretary); founding the Southern Maryland Homeowners Association Federation (she chairs a committee); and the Charles County Southern Christian Leadership Conference (shes a chapter officer). Without Melanies political savvy and her managerial experience, no way would I have been able to get the aforementioned groups off the ground. Also, many persons have commented on the Melanie Holland campaigns strong showing against an entrenched incumbent. These positive comments speak to the outside the box thinking that my wife will bring to county government. Moreover, Melanie has received major endorsements over the incumbent which cannot be ignored.
