HOLY SHIT!! BIG BEAR ATTACK LAST NIGHT IN CHURCHILL. Was working the overnight shift and went out for a smoke with the guy who also works the hotel. He went about 30 seconds before me...I hear him yell Joe, quick, a bear so I ran out to see a huge Mama Bear and her cub scurrying across the street from the back alley beside work. Then we started hearing shots...then screaming and yelling...more shots. Total chaos. Then all of a sudden another bear comes running up the backlane and stopped and stared at us...we creeped back towards the door and had it half open just in case it came at us...inside the morning cook was frying bacon, which obviously interested the bear...he started to come towards us...about 10 feet from us and we darted inside, slammed the door shut and bolted it. Bear patrol began to chase it away with more shots all the way down the main drag. Turned out a group of people had stumbled on to the bear around 5 in the morning and it attacked one of the girls just down the backlane from us. While the bear was attacking her some guy came running out of his house with a shovel and began beating the bear off her. They both ended up in the hospital...good news is they both survived and just heard that although serious, they are NOT in critical condition. Geezus Murphy!!
