HOPE, the documentary produced by the North Carolina-based non-profit. 3000 Miles to a Cure, will return to Portland on January 21 at 6:30 PM. The screening will be hosted at the historic Academy Theater in the heart of Montavilla. HOPE is the story of cyclist Maria Parker’s incredible 2013 Race Across America victory and her sister’s parallel journey battling brain cancer. “HOPE is a surprising movie,” said a viewer in Portland last summer. “[It’s] a paean to optimism in the midst of despair, the kindness of strangers, and a family that is always there for you.” Parker is traveling to Portland for the screening and will host a short Q & A after the film and will be available to meet with any potential corporate sponsors and the media. The organization she created is 3,000 Miles To a Cure a 501(c)(3) This amazing non-profit is one of only five non-profit winners selected out of over 1,300 proposals for a Giving through Glass Grant from Google, read about it here. Because of Google Glass, the race this summer will be much more visible to a huge audience, thus giving much more media exposure to this devastating disease. Here is a link to the website with more information about this screening, the organization and to purchase tickets: 3000milestoacure/hope 100% of donations are directed to brain cancer research. We hope you join our enthusiasm in spreading the word! Please pass it on to patients and their families, your friends, and ask your colleagues to do the same. We really want to rock this event and demonstrate to the nation what a incredible community the city of Portland is!
