***HOT app of the day*** (1.99) This is one amazing Busy Shape Sorter! It teaches children how to think and how to problem solve rather than just placing shapes in a corresponding hole. Based on Piagets research on cognitive development, this app allows kids to form hypotheses, and test them out in order to come about a solution. Basically gameplay is to sink a shape in the correct hole. By playing, kids begin to put together spatial constructs of their world and how they can directly influence outcomes by their actions. There are several possibilities to completing a task within each of the six levels. Kids test out shapes, colors, size, velocity and how to first work around obstacles. They then learn to work around obstacles through the use of tools. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and the sound effects are pleasing. Reinforcement is completely contained by playing the app itself. If you should make an error, you simply start that play screen again.
