HOW THE MAGIC HAPPENS Mama Ane makes lei all day, every day. She has two tables for hana pupu, both loaded with treasure. In her over 60 years of lei making she has amassed many tiny collections of rare shells that each will some day be incorporated into a special lei of its own. Every morning she carries her table to the lanai and begins the process of sorting, sizing, removing tiny rocks and sand. Her hands move swiftly, sifting and piercing and threading the shells. She is our eldest living lei maker and still the fastest and most dedicated. Most of her days are 10 hour lei making days. She is truly a Master Lei maker when it comes to creating new patterns and color combinations and knowledge of old styles. Her one-of-a-kind lei are collected all the world and represent the highest standard for Lei Pupu O NIihau today. We just got her a new iPad mini so she can get back on Facebook.....Aloha Kakahiaka, Ma! We Love you.
