FEATURES OF THE ROSARY Sign of the Cross which is the symbol of the trinity and salvation (1 John 5:7) The apostles Creed (The belief of the apostolic faith) Our Father (Mathew 6:9) Hail Mary (Luke 1:28, Luke 1:48) Glory Be (Ibid) The Rosary is a vocal and meditative prayer that explains the Role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Christianity, the Birth and the life of Jesus Christ, the suffering/Agony of Jesus Christ and his death for the salvation of mankind, And the Glorious Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Every time we pray the Rosary, we are reminding God (the most Holy and undivided Trinity) of this wonderful mysteries of the life of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are also petitioning him for graces and assistance (spiritually and materially) especially that of perseverance in Faith and Moral The Rosary, even though not written in scripture but the reality is there .Just like the word Bible, Trinity etc. that were not written in the Bible but there reality is all over the scripture because Divine revelation are truths of Jesus Christ which are contained in Sacred Scripture and Tradition John 21:25,2 Thess 2:14-15. The Rosary is a Christian Prayer because Jesus Christ gave Peter and his successors the key of authority to regulate liturgical worship Mathew 16:18-19. The Rosary is from the Latin Roserius which means Garland of Roses The word Bead comes from an old English word Biddan which means to pray or to entreat Using beads to pray which dates to early Christianity, when clergy members would use knots or beads to help keep track of prayers. When we pray the Rosary today, we are using the beads and the other parts of the rosary to do the same thing -- to help keep track of our prayers. The Rosary originated in the 12th and 13th centuries. Since many people of that time could not afford a psalm book, traveling clergy used a string of beads as he prayed with them. Each bead represented a prayer such as The Lords Prayer, the Hail Mary or the doxology, which is a short verse of praising God. The mysteries and meditations of the Hail Mary comprises of the following below JOYFUL MYSTERY 1.Luke 1:28- Humility 2.Luke 1:41-42- Charity toward our neighbor 3.Luke 2:7- Detachment from the things of the world, contempt of riches, and love of poverty 4.Luke 2:22-23- Purity of body and soul 5.Luke 2:46- Divine wisdom SORROWFUL MYSTERY 1.Luke 22:44-45- Contrition for our sins 2.John 19:1- Mortification of our senses 3.Mathew 27:28-29- Detachment from the things of the world,contempt of riches, and love of poverty 4.John 19:17- Patience in bearing our crosses 5.Luke 23:46- The conversion of sinners, the perseverance of the just, and the relief of the souls in Purgatory GLORIOUS MYSTERY 1.Mark 16:6- Love of God and fervor in His service 2.Mark 16:19- An ardent desire for heaven, our true home 3.Acts 2:4- The coming of the Holy Ghost into our souls 4.Judith 15:9-10- Tender devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary 5Apocalypse 12:1- Perseverance in grace and a crown of glory hereafter CONCLUSION To fail to have devotion to the Rosary is to reject our Lord John 3:18 He that believeth in him(Jesus Chrst) is not judged.
