HOW TO STAY MARRIED! Anytime I see young couple exchanging marriage vows at the altar with beautiful smile on their faces I always say to myself, I hope these people know what they are going into. Dont get me wrong, marriage is not evil or an impediment, its one of the most beautiful institutions God established for mankind. The point am trying to make is, it’s very easy to get married than to stay married because it requires plenty of work. John Hagee said that, Falling in love is easy; living together happily ever after requires a great deal of work and personal sacrifice. He continued by saying, I have married hundreds of couples, and each of them stands before me beaming with hope and happiness. I have seen them exchange marriage vows and I know the two people before me are totally ignorant of the sacrifice it will take to make their marriage successful. Bill Cosy also said that, For two people in a marriage to live together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle the Vatican has overlooked. Friends, you must understand that good marriage is hard work! Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. A marriage covenant is the death of two individual wills and the birth of a new, unified will. After you exchange your vows with one another, God sees both of you or He sees neither of you. Crises exist when two self-centered people get married and neither is willing to crucify that self-absorbed self-will for the betterment of the marriage. If wives and husbands would practice giving love instead of waiting to receive it, the divorce courts would be empty. Some angry wives have shouted in a rage during counseling that their husbands doesnt deserve their love. Well you should give it to him on credit! Some husbands have said, she wants me to tell her I love you. Why do I have to tell her that all the time? She knows I do! Well you should tell her you love her because she needs to hear it! Did you hear the story of the man who refused to kiss his wife and then killed the man who did? Divorce rate is on the increase today because people are more interested in wedding reception than the marriage itself. Sometimes when you receive wedding invitation, the couple will instruct you on the colour combination for the occasion. They may say, colour for the occasion is purple, orange and silver which is good. But its possible that the couple have never read one book on how to build a home. When two unprepared and ignorant people get married there will always be challenges. A young man died the other day because he refused to go for comprehensive tests with the wife before getting married. He said that his parents did not go for tests when they got married and he forgot that most of the dangerous diseases that are killing people today were not in existence then. So he got married to a lady who had Hiv, got infected and he is dead and gone forever! How can we stay married? To be continued………. Remain lifted!
