HPL X ‘The Rail’ Week 18 It’s Daligan ‘By the Book’ or is that ‘Buy the Book’? It was an up and down start to week 18 for one of HPL’s best known players as Stu Strike joined the elite, but growing band of players to win at the Regency on Sunday lunchtime and then collect a wooden spoon at an evening venue this time at Starbeck WMC which was eventually won by Martin Kilvington. Tony McIntyre and Mark McGinty were the other two Sunday winners at the Trades Hall and Otley Social Club respectively. Ben Gray & Dan Hollowed were our winners on Monday at the Hart and the Claro Beagle. On Tuesday Brian ‘Rossitered’ the field at the High Harrogate with 6 bust-outs from a possible 13 whilst Bib Bielby was improving on his Monday night second place with a win at Starbeck WMC collecting a colossal 11 hits along the way. John Adamson won a good quality event at the Harlow Hill Club to complete the Tuesday night line-up. Pid Worsnop just held off league leader Linzi Underwood at the Dagger on Wednesday and at the Ex-Servicemen’s Club Luke Hutchinson won from a big field but Craig Underhay’s second place was enough to escalate him to the top of that league. Only last week Matt Daligan was seeking tips from his fellow players on how to improve his game and having acted on the advice he received, to buy a book, he reaped the reward with his first ever HPL win at the Board, although quite how the paperback version of ‘How to hold up a take away in Knaresborough’ helped his game is something of a mystery. In the final fixture of the evening Andy Nugent did his finals night qualification chances no harm whatsoever with a fine win at the Angel in Wetherby. Matt Dodds won his 14th event of the season at Park Place after a protracted three handed finish to an excellent game on Thursday night ad at the Ex-Servicemen’s Josh Morris bested a decent quality line-up. In Otley Sean bell returned to winning ways and collected six hits en route. John Hoyle won at the Trades on Friday and at Harlow Hill Club Ed Claringbold leapt to the top of the table with a fine win there. Paul Lindsay won at Starbeck Cons in the last fixture of the week and for those of you still rubbing your eyes in disbelief…… Paul Lindsay won at Starbeck Cons The EPS sponsored Fantasy Poker League: The winner of the team of the week award was Matt Dodds and his £10 Roadshow voucher is mainly down to the performance of Bib Bielby. Matt now holds the slenderest of leads at the head of the table as this league heads for the most exciting finish for some time.
