HUSN Al DHAN (good opinion) is keeping in line with Islamic - TopicsExpress

HUSN Al DHAN (good opinion) is keeping in line with Islamic Etiquettes where we look for excuses and justifications that will excuse our brothers and sisters and clear them of blame, especially when the accusation is directed towards those brothers/ sisters who are callers to Allah. Allah Says; O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin [Al- Hujurat 49:12] Secondly, saying this we also need to understand that Islaam is a religion based on Justice as Allah Says Thus have We made of you a (wasata) Middle Ummah [Al-Baqarah 2:143) Imam at-Tabari describes AL-WASAT (Middle) as a Justly Balanced Ummah. This means we are justly balanced in all aspects of life be it Husn Dhan, Criticism or Praise. Being simple over zealous in showing Husn Dhan is crossing the boundaries of the Just and Balanced way. The third aspect being Verification of facts, Allah Says; O you who believe! If a fasiq comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm the people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done [Al-Hujurat 49:6] So it all boils down to three important guidelines, namely Husn Dhan, Being Just & Balanced and Verification of facts. But how do we sequence the three guidelines, does Husn Dhan come first or does verification of facts, or is it the other way round. Islam is a complete religion and in it we have ways to deal with each situation in a pragmatic and realistic way. When in doubt with regard to an issue that concerns the welfare of General Muslims, then it is incumbent on people to seek facts and verify the same in order that they may protect themselves and other Muslims from deception and humiliation at the hands of a few ignorant. On the other hand when in doubt with regard to the character of an individual than it is best to give precedence to Good Opinion and give him good counsel rather than quizzle and harass him interrogatorily. Allah teaches us these very important fundamental in the Quran. Allah BEGINS WITH ORDERING the Muslims in surah Hujurat as follows O you who believe! If a fasiq comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm the people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done. [Al-Hujurat 49:6] So accepting something based merely on Husn Dhan and not verifying the facts with regard to any claim is going against the Order of Allah. And that such an act may result overall in harm to the Muslims. Allah Subhanahu wa Tallah continues Saying ; And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them both, but if one of them rebels against the other, then fight you (all) against the one that which rebels till it complies with the Command of Allah; then if it complies, then make reconciliation between them justly, and be equitable. Verily! Allah loves those who are equitable. [Al-Hujurat 49:9] Here Allah Orders the Muslims to be Just in accepting the Haqq. The group of believers who are not on the Haqq must Comply and Accept the Haqq, and if they are to reject the Haqq, then Allah orders the Muslims to Fight the rebellious group of Muslims till they are subdued and are in compliance with the truth. And this is Justice . Finally Allah Says; O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former [Al-Hujurat 49:11] O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins [Al-Hujurat 49:11] Finally Allah Orders the all Muslims to be courteous to one another. This is after the facts have been Verified and Justice has been served. This is to ensure also that the Muslims who have realized their mistake and have reverted to the Haqq are not dishonored and humiliated. No matter who makes the mistake, after his compliance to the truth, no one is allowed to further the issue, doing so will only regard to being Unjust and Treacherous. An example of this is evident from the life of the companion Umar ibn al-Khattab (r) who became angry at the dispute between Ubaay ibn Kab and Ibn Masood about prayer in a single garment. Ubayy said, Prayer in one garment is good and fine; Ibn Masood said, That is only if one does not have many clothes. So Umar came out in anger, saying, Two men from among the companions of the Messenger of Allaah (pbuh), who are looked up to and learnt from, disputing? Ubayy has spoken the truth and not cared about Ibn Masood. But if I hear anyone disputing about it after this I will do such- and-such to him. [Ibn Abdul Barr in Jaami Bayaan al-Ilm (2/83-4)] So when does Husn e dhan take precedence over Verification When Umm il-Mumineed Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her [r]) was slandered by the hypocrites, some from amongst the Muslims who suspected Umm il-Mumineen Aisha (r) in the story of IFK. Allah Subhanahu wa Tallah reprimands those people questioning them; Why, when you heard it,(slander of Aisha) did not the believing men and believing women think good of themselves [i.e. one another] and say, This is an obvious falsehood? [An-Noor 24:12] This is Why did they not have good opinion about themselves [Muslims incl. Aisha (r)] rather they should have rejected the slander of the hypocrites and supported Umm il-Mumineed Aisha (r) So the above verses clearly demonstrate the need to first have Husn Dhan prior to seeking any Verification. Then Allah Subhanahu wa Tallah continues to say; Why did they not produce four witnesses? Since they (the slanderers) have not produced witnesses! Then with Allah they are the liars [An-Noor 24:13] and And why did you not, when you heard it, say? It is not right for us to speak of this. Glory be to You (O Allah) this is a great lie.[an-Noor 24:15] That is Why did they not verify the facts before suspecting Umm il-Mumineen Aisha (r). So we see brothers and sisters, how the deen of Allah guides us to the right understanding. Not wanting to make this too long, I hope this benefits all on the forum. Wa ma alayna illal balag. Was salam alaykum Ahmad Khan
