Had a discussion with my friend a little while ago, and he told me something I hadnt really thought about before (I believe we were talking about Louis C.K. at the time): racist is quite possibly the worst thing you can call a white person (incidentally, this friend was white). To accuse a white person of having inexplicable hatred for a disenfranchised minority is pretty much the only thing that boils up the ire of a person identified as white in America. Of course, it might not affect every white person (just as a lot of black people also dont really care about the n word like that), but its definitely there. Its the only word that communicates an association with a background that they arent proud of. Think about this, for instance: what did President Bush, at one point one of the most powerful men in the world, say was the most disgusting moments of his presidency? When Kanye said Bush doesnt care about black people.
