Bibles for Congress -- It’s Bibles, Bibles everywhere in the hallowed halls of Congress! “Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS) sent every other legislator on Capitol Hill a copy of the Bible with a letter suggesting it should help guide you in your decision-making. While most of the recipients accepted the gift without protest, others have raised concerns over the continued insertion of religion into the legislative process, especially certain stains of fundamentalism. ‘When it comes to religion,’ [said one spokesman,] ‘our nation is pluralistic and diverse. Rather than look to the Bible or any other religious book to craft our nations public policy, we would do well to examine another source instead, one that was actually created to guide governance. Its called the Constitution.’ What do you think of this? Appropriate or not?
