Had a frustrating experience at OnPoint Community Credit Union - TopicsExpress

Had a frustrating experience at OnPoint Community Credit Union today. Janelle and I went in to the Beaverton branch to have myself added to her account. I was told I needed a photo ID and a major credit card. I do not understand this policy. If I needed two pieces of ID in order to get my government issued drivers license, why do I need a major credit card? What if I dont have one because -- oh, I dont know -- I dont want to become one of the millions of Americans in crippling debt? I dont even need to mention that Janelle took time off from work in order for us to accomplish this task. Nor should I need to mention we had Naomi in tow. We were even told that the Branch Manager had the ability to make an exception. The person helping us was gone for less than two minutes before she came back and said there was nothing she could do. What was the point of asking a Branch Manager if we were going to be refused so quickly? Under what circumstances do Branch Managers make exceptions if not in a case such as mine? A truly frustrating experience, all so that I can give OnPoint more money -- mine -- which up until now, has been stashed in a jar. OnPoint Credit Unions mission statement is to promote the financial well-being of our members. By forcing new members own a credit card in order to start an account? That doesnt make any sense.
