Had a great road trip with Jer driving with him on his way to San Francisco yesterday. This was a very spontaneous arrangement as it was suggested and decided about an hour before he was to leave that I should accompany him. I am glad I did. I then booked a 1:20 pm Virgin America flight home for today. However, I thought I might just make the 10:50am flight so onto the BART system I went. Had to transfer along the way to another Bart train but missed that part. Had to backtrack and catch that transfer. It was not looking good to catch the early flight. Finally arrived at the airport and went to the ticket counter to get my ticket changed but time was closing in. After a long line at security, I finally made it through. No time for put on belt, just grab everything and dump it into my small carry on bag. As I got to the gate and there was no one there except for one lone Virgin American gal about to head down the plane ramp walkway, I got her attention and asked if I would be able to get on. She said they were closing the doors.....but obviously took compassion on me and proceeded to see I had only one meager looking bag.......so she checks me in and accompanies me onto the plane as the door closes behind me and off we go. Whew. That was about as close of a call as I have ever had......but it felt good. An additional five second delay anywhere along the line and I would have missed that flight. The best part??? Getting there in time to have lunch with my wife!
