Had a nice Alterna-Bowl - went to see the movie Nebraska (quite enjoyable) and ate dinner at a restaurant normally impossible to get into. Nebraska is the latest from director Alexander Payne (The Desendants, About Schmidt, Election). Wonderful film with a terrific script and extremely well-cast - Bruce Dern, Will Forte, Bob Odenkirk and Stacy Keach were all great, and the film employed many elderly actors who were all uniformly terrific, but I have to give a special shout-out to June Squibb whos been nominated for Best Supporting Actress and did a terrific job playing a character without a filter (something Ive experienced first-hand with a close relative, but if you think Im naming names youre nuts)! That kind of character is always more entertaining on screen than in real life. Anyway, I hope Squibb wins (sorry, Jennifer Lawrence - thought you were great in American Hustle but 84-year old Squibb has a lifetime body of work that should be acknowledged; you still have a lifetime ahead to match her output).
